"This sacred temple was once blessed and worshipped by Rishiya Shingar, son of Vibhandaka, in the era of the great Rama avathara during Greta Yuga, the first of the four yugas or ages. Unique to this temple is a non-idolatrous stone slab, inscribed with symbols of the sun, moon, and mace with aksharas (beejas) in 4 x 3 grid. These, along with the mantra (beeja) characters, are regarded as signs of worship by ancient seers or Rishis."
Welcome to Sri Para-bramma Duva-dasa Be-jakshra-shakti Peedam, a divine sanctuary nestled in the heart of Chellappirati. This sacred place, steeped in spiritual lore and tradition, is home to the revered deity, Sri Akshara LalithaSelvambigai Amman.
This sacred place features a stone slab inscribed with Bijakshara symbols. These ancient symbols represent the profound mantras of Adi-para-shakti, often referred to as the Mother of the Universe.
Our temple is unique in its representation of the eight fundamental elements or "Ashta Buddhas," symbolizing the diverse aspects of existence. They are:
- Space
- Air
- Fire
- Water
- Earth
- Light
- Sound
- Time
This force, known as Kalabrahmam or Brahma Shakti, was revered by the legendary sculptor Siddha Mamunian Mayan of the Sangam era. In his teachings in the Pranava Veda, he referred to this energy as the God of Time.
In the Mayan tradition, all forms of artistic expression, including painting and writing, were treated as one. The ancient inscriptions found on stone slabs within the temple's sanctum in Chellappirati village predate even the Mayan era, attesting to their historical significance.
The temple venerates the divine energies of three important goddesses -
- Parvati
- Lakshmi
- Saraswati.
Sri Akshara LalithaSelvambigai Amman is the revered deity believed to shower grace upon those who offer their prayers and devotions. This temple holds a special place in the mythological history as it is said to be from the Ramayana era.
